Pierson sophomore Molly Wolfson’s first varsity tennis season has been a successful one.
The singles standout finished it with a strong showing at the Suffolk County singles championships this past weekend at Smithtown East High School.
Wolfson, who earned a spot in the tournament after placing third in the Division IV singles championships the week prior, made it out of the first round of counties with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Connetquot senior Corinne Hillock, but was then eliminated in a 6-0, 6-0 loss in the Round of 16 to Mt. Sinai’s No. 2-seeded sophomore Sofia Perez.
For just its first season boasting an independent varsity tennis team, Pierson also earned a spot in the Suffolk County team tournament. The No. 8-seeded Whalers fell in the first round to No. 1 Ross on October 15.
