Bonac Boys Soccer Is Rolling
Juan Salcedo scored a goal in the first overtime to lead East Hampton (3-1 overall) to a 1-0 victory at Harborfields on Monday. Randy Japa had five saves in goal for the Bonackers, who were coming off their first defeat of the season, 5-2, in a nonleague game with St. Anthony’s on Saturday. Prior to that game, East Hampton had defeated Comsewogue, 2-0, at home on Friday and Eastport-South Manor, 5-1, in the season opener also at home on September 4.
East Hampton Girls Tennis Tops Islip
The Bonackers rebounded nicely from their season-opening 5-2 loss at Sachem on September 3 with a 5-2 victory at home over Islip two days later. They did lose, 7-0, at home to Smithtown East on Monday.
Whalers Boys Soccer Earns First Victory
The Pierson/Bridgehampton boys soccer team defeated host Riverhead Charter, 5-2, on Monday after having lost its first two games of the season. The Whalers had lost, 3-1, at home to Mattituck on Friday after having lost, 1-0, at Port Jefferson on September 4.
Strong Start for Southampton Girls Tennis
The Mariners won all three matches to start their season last week, starting with a 4-3 victory at Deer Park on September 3, then a pair of 7-0 victories, the first being at home over Central Islip on Thursday, September 5, the second coming at Babylon the next day.
Baymen Boys Soccer Gets in Win Column
Matthew Pozdniakov, Brandon Guevara, Juan Henao and Edie Cabrera each scored a goal to lead Hampton Bays to a 4-1 victory at Bayport-Blue Point on Friday. Nick Osorio made five saves in goal. The victory was sandwiched between a pair of losses, a 2-1 loss at home to Mount Sinai in the season opener on September 4, and a 4-0 loss at home to Elwood-John Glenn on Monday.
Hurricanes Boys Volleyball Split First Two Matches
The Westhampton Beach boys volleyball team defeated Comsewogue, 3-0, at home on Thursday, September 5, in set scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-12. But then the ’Canes lost, 3-1, at Half Hollow Hills on Saturday in set scores of 25-19, 18-25, 21-25, 21-25.
Westhampton Beach Girls Tennis Bounces Back Strong
Since losing its season opener, 7-0, at Bayport-Blue Point on September 3, the Hurricanes have rattled off three consecutive victories, defeating host Connetquot, 7-0, on Thursday, September 5, Half Hollow Hills East, 4-3, at home the very next day, and then Riverhead, 7-0, at home on Monday.
