Bonac Boys Cross Country Defeats Harborfields
The East Hampton boys cross country team defeated Harborfields, 17-38, in its season opener on its home course on school grounds on September 9. According to head coach Kevin Barry, it’s only the second dual meet loss for the Tornadoes in the last five years. The Bonackers swept the top four placements to win the meet outright. Senior Sean Perez, in his first-ever cross country race, won the 2.5-mile race in 13:52, followed closely by senior Liam Knight (13:59) and sophomores Jasper Samuelson (14:09) and Watts Comly-Bolick (14:13).
East Hampton Girls Soccer Stays Undefeated
The Bonackers have not only not lost a game yet this season they have yet to give up a goal in five contests. After defeating Copiague, 2-0, at home on September 9, East Hampton defeated host Stony Brook School, 5-0, on Thursday, September 11, then won, 7-0, at Wyandanch the very next day. Amy Torres scored four goals in the win over Stony Brook then added a hat trick in the win over Wyandanch.
Bonac Girls Swimmers Defeat William Floyd
The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton girls swim team won its first-ever match against William Floyd, 97-49, in a nonleague meet at the East Hampton YMCA RECenter on September 9. The 200-yard medley relay teams swept the first two placements in the first event of the evening, earning a qualifying time for the Section XI Championships. The Bonackers won 10 out of the next 11 events. Bridgehampton junior Emma Kapon was named Swimmer of the Meet by captains for her constant cheering and encouragement of teammates at the meet.
Rizzo Leads Pierson Girls Cross Country
In her first varsity dual meet, Evelyn Rizzo won the 5K at Indian Island run in 21:23 to lead the Whalers to a 15-45 victory over Center Moriches in its season opener on September 9. Josie Mott (21:29), Sara O’Brien (21:31), Maggie Greenwald (24:25), Bennett Greene (24:51) and Olivia Stiglitz (26:23) all followed.
Pierson/Bridgehampton Girls Volleyball Earns First Victory
Destiny Parker and Layla Garapie lead the team with five aces each and Lucia Mogavero had five blocks to lead the Whalers to a 3-0 victory at home over Shelter Island on Friday. Pierson/Bridgehampton (1-2 in League VIII, 1-3 overall) won in set scores of 25-18, 25-12, 25-16.

In their very first home game on the field behind their school, the Killer Bees defeated Smithtown Christian, 4-2, on Monday to pick up their first-ever varsity win.
Southampton Girls Volleyball Bounces Back
After suffering a 3-0 loss at Bayport-Blue Point on September 10, the Mariners responded with a 3-1 victory at Mattituck on Friday in scores of 25-10, 25-19, 22-25, 25-16. Bailey Brown had 19 kills and 11 digs, Danna Nieto finished with 17 digs, Haven Daley had 16 assists and Lucia Obregon recorded 14 assists and 10 digs.
Hampton Bays Boys Volleyball Makes History With First Wins
The Baymen (2-2 overall) defeated host Huntington, 3-0, in set scores of 25-22, 25-13, 25-19 for their first-ever varsity victory on September 9, then followed up with another 3-0 victory at Central Islip on Thursday, September 11. Set scores of that match were 25-21, 25-16, 25-13. Peyton Single led the defense in the win over Huntington with 25 digs, Angel Munoz had 19 digs, Leo Spellman and Christian Rodriguez had 16 and 15 assists, respectively, and Charlie Patek paced the offense with 12 kills while Andrei Quiros finished with 10 kills.
A Nice Rebound by Hampton Bays Girls Volleyball
The Baymen defeated Elwood-John Glenn, 3-2, at home on Monday on the heels of a 3-1 loss at Sayville on Friday. The match between Hampton Bays and Glenn was a seesaw matchup, the Knights taking the first, 25-20, but the Baymen coming right back in game two, 25-20. Glenn won the third set 25-11, but Hampton Bays forced a fifth deciding set after winning the fourth set 25-23. The Baymen took the fifth set, 15-12.
Arena Leads Hurricane Golf
Nico Arena shot a 36 at Westhampton Country Club to lead the Westhampton Beach golf team to a 9-0 win over William Floyd on September 9. Zach Berger fired a 37.
Westhampton Beach Boys Volleyball Starts Season Undefeated
The Hurricanes have rattled off three straight wins to start off the season, all 3-0 shutouts and all on the road. The last, as of Tuesday morning, was a 25-12, 25-18, 25-16 victory at West Babylon on September 9.
