Bridgehampton Student Represents New York at Global Youth Institute
Bridgehampton School senior Sacha Gomberg attended the World Food Prize Global Youth Institute from October 21 to 23 in Des Moines, Iowa, after being selected as a New York Youth Delegate. Her selection followed her participation in the New York Youth Institute held last winter at Cornell University.
The Global Youth Institute is a weeklong academic conference that unites young leaders from around the world to explore innovative solutions to global food security challenges. As a delegate, Gomberg presented her research findings and recommendations during roundtable discussions with international experts and fellow students.
Throughout the event, delegates engage with global leaders to discuss pressing agricultural and sustainability issues, share ideas, and collaborate on strategies to build a more food-secure future. Accompanying Gomberg to Des Moines were Aleandra de Souza, agriculture teacher at Bridgehampton School, and Judiann Carmack-Fayyaz, executive director of FoodLab at Stony Brook Southampton. Both represented the school’s agriculture program and supported Gomberg throughout the experience.
This opportunity was made possible through the ongoing partnership between Bridgehampton School and the FoodLab at Stony Brook Southampton, which continues to provide students with access to innovative agricultural education and global leadership opportunities.
