Montauk Branch service resumed between Southampton and Montauk following a disruption due to a vehicle striking a Long Island Rail Road bridge west of East Hampton on Thursday afternoon.

A Penske rental truck hit The Cove Hollow train trestle in East Hampton at around 4 p.m.

Trains filled with eastbound passengers sat in Southampton until service resumed, and the 4:51 p.m. train from Montauk to Speonk ran more than 100 minutes late.
