The Express News Group held a virtual panel discussion, “Living With COVID-19: Taking The Pulse Of The Local Business,” as part of its ongoing Express Sessions series, on Thursday, February 10, at noon.
The conversation was intended to take a step back and examine where things stand with the COVID-19 pandemic, what’s new, how things have changed and perhaps what the future holds, both short- and long-term.
The three-part discussion offered an update on the medical crisis, with experts from Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and Peconic Bay Medical Center/Northwell Health. Then it moved to the state of local business, both more generally and specifically as it affects the real estate market, which drives so much of the region’s economy.

O’Connor, Licensed Real Estate salesperson, Brown Harris Stevens; Steve D’Angelo, owner of North Sea Hardware; Ian Duke, owner of Southampton Social Club, Union Burger Bar, Union Sushi & Steak; John Tortorella, owner, Tortorella Group; Dr. Sharon Nachman; chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital; Dr. Fredric Weinbaum, chief medical officer, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital; and Dr. Jeffrey Zilberstein, medical director, Peconic Bay Medical Center.
