SCHOLAR-ATHLETES
Pierson had its two spring teams, baseball and softball, qualify as New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete teams this past spring. In order to qualify as a team, 75 percent of its average GPA for the season must be equal to or greater than 90 percent. Student-athletes can also earn Scholar-Athlete individual honors by earning an individual average of 90 or above, whether their team qualified or not. Although specific names were not released, 26 student-athletes earned the distinction.
The Express News Group does not make any postseason award selections. All awards are either earned by student-athletes at respective levels or voted on by state, county and division/league representatives. All school awards are selected by respective coaches and school officials.
