When imagining the original Summer Colony on the East End, Susan Harrison pictures high hedges, cocktail parties and private clubs, beaches, gardens and glimmer.

There are only a few fabled streets in Southampton Village where that energy can still be found, she said, and she just sold a house on one of them.

On September 25, the nine-bedroom, 10,000-square-foot estate at 540 Halsey Neck Lane sold for $12.4 million. Harrison, who is a licensed real estate salesperson with Compass, represented the seller, Alessandra Takla-Marovic. The buyer’s identity was protected by a limited liability company.

“To say that these residences are highly coveted is an understatement,” she said of the estate section. “540 Halsey Neck Lane possesses not just an address of note, but a history of ownership that is just as glamorous. The quality of design and build in this home is exquisite, as well. Not a thing needed to be amended, except to bring the interior design in line with the new owners’ taste and style.”

The home — designed by architect Boris Baranovich — is tucked behind private gates that open to mature landscaping and, once inside, a double-height entry that leads to the entertaining spaces, according to the listing. The gourmet kitchen features granite countertops and Sub-Zero, Viking and Wolf appliances, and the butler’s pantry — with Sub-Zero wine storage — opens to the formal dining room.

Upstairs, the primary suite has two balconies, a fireplace, dressing room and an office. Four additional en-suite guest rooms complete the upper level. On the lower level is a billiard room, card/game room and living room that can be converted into a screening room. The third level, with just under 2,700 square feet of space, could be a children’s playroom, yoga, dance or art studio, the listing said.

The living room on the first floor, with French doors along the wall, opens to a stone terrace, heated gunite pool and a pool house, complete with double-height vaulted ceilings and a wet bar.

“It was truly an honor to represent this timeless and tasteful home,” Harrison said.

When the most recent deed transfers landed in email inboxes last week, jaws dropped in shock and awe when viewers realized that, toward the top of the pile, the sale price for 408 Further Lane in Amagansett was not a typo.
