Pierson High School Students Selected for Music Festivals
Three Pierson High School students have been chosen to participate in the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education (NYSCAME) High School All-County Festival, one of the most prestigious opportunities available to young musicians on Long Island.
Seniors Allison Cottrell and Ashley Buestan Perez were selected for the All-County Chorus, while junior Savannah Romano was accepted into the All-County Symphony Orchestra as a flutist. In addition to this honor, Romano was also selected for the NYSSMA All-State Festival Symphony Orchestra, an elite ensemble featuring the most accomplished student musicians from across New York State. The All-State Festival will be held during the first weekend of December.
The NYSCAME All-County Festival brings together top junior and senior musicians from across Suffolk County for intensive rehearsals and a culminating concert. Students are nominated by their teachers based on their NYSSMA solo festival scores, dedication, work ethic, and commitment to music. The concert will take place on November 14 at Hauppauge High School under the direction of a renowned guest conductor.
“We are incredibly proud of Allison, Ashley, and Savannah for their outstanding musical achievements,” said Deanna Locascio, Sag Harbor School District music coordinator. “Their selection reflects not only their talent but also their dedication to their studies and to our school’s music program. We look forward to seeing them shine on stage this fall.”
