As Greta Thunberg and David Hogg would testify, the degree of adult hostility leveled at teenagers who care about the world they inhabit can sometimes be astonishing. Even while adopting a condescending “Don’t worry your pretty little head” attitude, a very significant number of powerful adults have make it abundantly clear that they do not have the backs of a generation that faces the unprecedented prospects of both school massacres and environmental catastrophe.
East Hampton students have every right to make their voices heard. Let’s hope that when they’re not waving signs they will also take the soonest opportunity to do so by casting their ballots.
