And some have insisted that the Gann Road shellfish hatchery project will be vetted by the Planning Board, and Planning Department, in that their review and comments will be solicited by the town. That’s not the same thing, though, as filing a formal application, and everyone can see that it’s not.
Not only is there already no small degree of opposition to the project, but it will simply look bad — and set a poor precedent — if the town, which justifiably prides itself on its commitment to a conservative zoning process, pushes its own project through without it securing the same kind of formal approval that is required for private developments.
What could be the possible harm in doing this the right way?
